AFWERX TACFI Program Awards Mesodyne $1.75M Contract: Funding Enables Delivery of LightCell Power Generator to AFSOC A4 for Testing & Evaluation
The Air Force’s Tactical Funding Increase (TACFI) program awarded Mesodyne Inc. with a $1.75M contract matched to a seed round led by Nor’easter Ventures. The combined $3.5M funding will enable Mesodyne to further develop and ultimately to deliver the company’s LightCell™ Power Generator, a lightweight, portable energy source, to Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) A4 for testing and evaluation in the field.
“TACFI’s funding will enable us to build upon the LightCell™’s JP-8 capability, scale the power generator, and ruggedize the product so it can be tested in the field with AFSOC A4,” said Dr. Veronika Stelmakh, CEO of Mesodyne. “This contract is critical for the development of the LightCell™, and we are grateful for our continued support from the Air Force and Nor’Easter Ventures.”
The LightCell™ generates portable, efficient, quiet, reliable, long-endurance power from any fuel for organizations and equipment in the most extreme and austere environments. Mesodyne will continue development of the LightCell™ over the course of the next few years, with anticipated delivery to AFSOC occurring in 2026.
