Mesodyne Wins U.S. Army’s XTechSBIR Autonomy Competition
Mesodyne Inc. won the xTech SBIR Autonomy Competition, which recognizes ‘world-class’ technologies being developed commercially that may benefit the Department of Defense (DoD) in the autonomy space. The competition integrates non-traditional innovators into the DoD Science and Technology ecosystem and provides expertise and feedback that enables companies to accelerate, mature, and transition their technologies. Winners of this prize will be invited to submit proposals for $250K Phase I contracts with the U.S. Army.
“We’re excited the LightCell™ has been recognized by the U.S. Army as a valuable technology that should be further developed,” said Veronika Stelmakh, CEO and cofounder of Mesodyne. “We’ll be using the prize money to look at ways to leverage the LightCell™ on sUAS.”
Mesodyne’s LightCell™ is the groundbreaking generator that delivers silent, reliable power even in the most challenging environments. Demand for power is growing across multiple applications, and conventional generators, batteries and even other cutting-edge technologies are often inadequate solutions. The LightCell™ can use any conventional fuel. It’s scalable and modular, lightweight, reliable, and it emits no noise and has low temperature exhaust for covert operation. Unlike batteries, the LightCell™ has no risk of thermal runaway or chemical fire and no toxic heavy elements in exhaust because of the high temperature combustion. With remote operation even in extreme temperatures, the technology is ideal for sUAS applications.
